Desert Eagle is a large-caliber semi-automatic pistol manufactured in Israel by Israel Military Industries (IMI), under contract for Magnum Research, Inc.
Magnum Research, headquartered in the United States, developed and patented the early Desert Eagle design, which was further developed by IMI. Production was transferred to Saco Defense in Maine state from 1995 to 2000, but was later transferred back to Israel when Saco Defense was purchased by General Dynamics.
Due to its reputation as a high-powered weapon, Desert Eagle is often featured as a weapon of choice in novels, movies, songs, television shows and video games.
