FIM-92 Stinger



The FIM-92 Stinger is a ground-to-air missile developed in the United States and is used by all branches of the US armed forces, which have been in use since 1981. The Stinger missiles have been confirmed to have dropped 270 aircraft.

This missile weapon is manufactured by Raytheon Missile Systems and produced under license by EADS in Germany. Raytheon classifies these missiles as MANPADS (Man-Portable Air-Defense System). Senjatarudal is used by the United States military as well as 29 other countries. About 70,000 of these weapons have been produced.


 During the Afghan War of the 80s, the United States supplied Mujahideen fighters with this weapon and proved very powerful to knock down Soviet aircraft in a mountainous terrain.
